Horny Goat Weed

Horny Goat Weed is a literal translation of the Chinese name (Yin Yang Huo) for a plant whose botanical name is Epimedium sagittatum. Two other species of Epimedium (E. grandiflorum and E. brevicorum) have been used interchangeably by Chinese Herbalists for many generations. All three species of Epimedium produce the same results; there is no superior species of Epimedium.

The Chinese named epimedium Horny Goat Weed because it was observed that when goats ate this wild herb while foraging they displayed an increase in their normal sexual behaviour. Horny Goat Weed has been shown to stimulate sensory perception thus increasing sexual desire. It increases sperm production and is effective in opposing impotency caused by steroid use. In addition to its effects on sexual behavior, Horny Goat Weed has been shown to decrease blood pressure as well as stimulate the immune system, and is effective for both men and women.
