Echinacea & GoldensealGoldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) is a plant native to the eastern part of North America. The parts used medicinally are the roots. Goldenseal has been extensively used by the native American indians to treat inflammatory conditions of the digestive tract, the respiratory tract and the urinary tract brought about as a result of infection and allergies. It is especially effective on the oral mucosa and is helpful in cases of gingivitis and throat infections. Because of the antibiotic properties of Goldenseal it makes an ideal herb to combine with Echinacea with its powerful immune stimulating properties for the treatment of stubborn colds and flu's where secondary bacterial infections have set in. Goldenseal is very safe when used as directed. It is not recommended for use by pregnant women.
